Petition to President Obama:
Please nominate a progressive justice to the Supreme Court who will put an end the Billionaire Court. We need a Court that protects ordinary people’s right to be heard in our democracy, not the “right” of corporations and billionaires to buy elections.
President Obama has the right – and duty under the Constitution – to pick a qualified nominee to fill the vacancy at the Supreme Court.
The president should take this opportunity to nominate a justice who understands the Constitution is grounded in progressive values – and who will end the era of the “Billionaire Court.”
The last few years have seen case after case decided in favor of corporate power and the super-rich – remember Citizens United?? – and against ordinary Americans.
Republicans are hoping their radical blockade will convince President Obama to nominate a conservative as a “compromise.” There is no reason to reward their extremism.
