Ask Google To Quit The Chamber Of Commerce

This month was extraordinary:  Internet users and tech firms stood together to beat back appalling Internet censorship legislation.

One of the fiercest supporters of the legislation was the U.S. Chamber of Commerce -- they even launched a direct attack on Demand Progress a couple of months ago, when we asserted that SOPA and PIPA would foster Internet censorship!

Yahoo quit the Chamber during the height of the SOPA/PIPA fight, but Google -- which did amazing work to help defeat the censorship bills -- is still a member.

There are countless reasons for Google to quit the Chamber, but top on that list:

The Chamber spent at least $32 million during the 2010 election, and that's sure to grow this year.  The SOPA/PIPA loss must sting, and we expect the Chamber to lash out by seeking vengeance upon many of our strongest allies.  Google surely shouldn't want to be complicit in that effort.

Will you join us as we appeal to Google to work side-by-side with us again, by severing its ties with the Chamber of Commerce?  (This is a joint campaign with a group called SumOfUs, which works on corporate accountability.)

PETITION TO GOOGLE:  We just worked together to kill a terrible piece of legislation -- the SOPA/PIPA Internet censorship law.  Now we appeal to you to work side-by-side with us again, by severing your ties with the Chamber of Commerce.

Just fill out the form at right to ask Google to leave the Chamber of Commerce.
