Trump’s plan for infrastructure relies on public-private partnerships that will gut federal funding to for improvements in roads, bridges and water systems. All while padding corporate profits off the backs of taxpayers through sky-high tolls and utility fees. We demand Congress oppose Trump’s infrastructure plan.
Trump just released his infrastructure plan. It’s loaded with giveaways to Wall Street, with plans to sell off roads, bridges, water systems, airports, trains – you name it – to corporate interests through public-private partnerships. And Trump is dead set on jamming this through Congress.
These public-private partnerships are corporate smash-and-grabs that will saddle us taxpayers with sky-high tolls just to get to work everyday, and then gouge us at home with out-of-control utility bills.1
Sign the petition: Tell Congress that Trump’s infrastructure plan is a no-go. We need public infrastructure investment, not corporate giveaways.
Across the country, local city and state budgets are already cash-strapped when it comes to infrastructure. Instead of bringing investment in, Trump’s privatization plans will squeeze an already dry well for every last drop – then leave taxpayers like you and me with the jaw-dropping bill to pay for it all.
You can see Trump’s plan in action in Mike Pence’s Indiana. When he was governor, Mike Pence sold large portions of Indiana’s interstate highways to foreign investors. The result? Huge toll hikes and deteriorating road conditions.2
When Bayonne, NJ privatized their water system by selling it to a private equity firm, water utility rates surged so high that some residents risked losing their homes just to pay their water bill.3
Trump wants to scale up horrible examples like these all across the country. His plan will sell off our roads, bridges, water systems, trains – and even the national airports in Washington D.C. – to the highest corporate bidder and then stand by while they hike up tolls and price gouge on water utilities.
Congress can put the breaks on Trump’s “Mad Max” infrastructure plan, but only if they hear enough public outcry from activists like you.
Tell Congress: Trump’s infrastructure corporate giveaway plan is a non-starter.
