    Testifying under oath, Former FBI Director James Comey said Trump pressured him to drop his investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, and that he believes he was fired because Trump did not like the way he was handling the investigation into Russia’s meddling in our elections.1

    So why on earth should Trump get to choose the new FBI Director with a cloud of investigation and allegations swirling around him?

    Tell the Senate: Don’t let Trump pick a new FBI Director while he is under the cloud of the Russia investigation.

    Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey was a throwback to the Nixon era, his very own “Saturday Night Massacre,” when Nixon famously canned several Justice Department officials who were investigating his administration.

    Trump should not get rewarded for this behavior with the opportunity to install a loyalist puppet as the new FBI Director.

    Many legal experts believe Trump is guilty of obstruction of justice by asking Comey to drop his investigation of Michael Flynn and his ties to Russia, and then firing the former FBI Director after he refused to swear loyalty to the President.2

    Former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman said Comey’s sworn testimony shows “corrupt intent up the wazoo,” on the part of Trump.3

    Raising the stakes even further on June 12, Trump ally and confidant Chris Ruddy, the CEO of Newsmax Media, went on TV to say he believed Trump was considering firing Robert Mueller, the special counsel appointed to lead the investigation into Russian interference in our elections.4

    The Senate must refuse to confirm any Trump nominees for FBI Director and get to the bottom of both Russia’s interference in our elections and whether Trump attempted to cover up or whitewash his associates’ ties to Russia.
