Say Thank You for voting to block Trump’s war on Venezuela
Petition to U.S. Senators who voted to stop Trump’s strikes on Venezuela:
We thank you for your vote in favor of the latest War Powers Resolution on Venezuela. We ask you to continue opposing military escalations in Venezuela and prevent war in the Caribbean.
49 U.S. Senators voted to stop Trump's unconstitutional military escalations against Venezuela and reassert Congress's war authority over the White House.1
Though the Senate War Powers Resolution failed, it's important that our Senators know that we value and appreciate their votes — especially after the Trump administration bombed another two boats coming from Venezuela last weekend.2
Trump’s strikes in the Caribbean aren’t slowing, and we need our elected officials to keep fighting for peace. Trump even deployed the massive USS Gerald Ford aircraft carrier and three warships into Latin American waters, prompting a massive Venezuelan military mobilization.3 We need to show our support for this vote so we can keep mounting a fight to stop hostilities with Venezuela.

After the vote fell short, Senator Ed Markey said, "Asserting Congress’s constitutional role in war is not some procedural detail; it is fundamental. Our government is based on checks and balances, and Congress’s authority to declare war is a core principle of what makes America a democracy."4
On Trump’s aggression against Venezuela, Senator Adam Schiff said, "It’s really an open secret that this is much more about potential regime change."5
Congress can’t allow Trump to drag the country and our service members into another prolonged, intractable war. Senators who voted last week to stop Trump’s war need to see our support.
