Call on Linda McMahon to resign!
Petition to Congress:
We urge you to call on Linda McMahon to resign as Secretary of Education. We cannot allow McMahon and the White House to dismantle the Department of Education.
Trump and his Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, are trying to dismantle and abolish the Department of Education. McMahon calls it the department’s “final mission.”1 It’s straight out of the extreme far-right Project 2025 playbook.
Trump and McMahon do NOT have the legal authority to abolish the Education Department.2 Cutting the department would gut the critical grant funding that K-12 public schools rely on, remove education support for children in poverty, and much more. The larger assault on public education threatens federal workers, anti-discrimination enforcement at schools, special needs programs, and overall funding for education.3,4
Senator Elizabeth Warren said that Trump and McMahon “want to destroy the Department of Education from within,” and is now calling on McMahon to resign.5 Congress must join Sen. Warren’s call and save public education.

Earlier this year, Trump and McMahon laid off half of all workers at the Department of Education, hurt programs for kids with disabilities, and cut the student loan division that protects people from predatory lenders and scams.6
McMahon cannot be allowed to make even more disastrous cuts to education. Congress must all join Sen. Warren in demanding that McMahon resign NOW.
