Protect the CFPB from Musk's attacks!

    Petition to Congress:
We urge you to protect federal agencies like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from Elon Musk’s DOGE activities.

Shortly after Trump’s election, Elon Musk said he wanted to “delete” the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).1 Now, Musk is illegally trying to make good on his word and shut down the agency for good.2

The richest man in the world is attacking an agency that returns $21 billion annually to consumers who are cheated out of their money by big banks, payday lenders, and companies like Tesla.3

Yesterday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, unions, workers, and activists protested this Musk-Trump unconstitutional move to end the CFPB. We must join them in rallying Congress to action.

Big financial institutions and CEOs like Elon Musk will be the main beneficiaries of closing the CFPB. Everyone else will lose money to predatory banking and lending practices.

Senator Warren helped start the CFPB after the 2008 financial crisis to protect people from Wall Street. Musk is trying to hand power back to the rich and harm consumers.

Last year, the Supreme Court ruled to protect the CFPB from corporate, right-wing attacks.4 So, Musk and Trump are circumventing Congress and the courts to try to unilaterally shut the agency down. It’s against the law. It's a threat to our democracy. Congress must stand in Musk’s way.
