Steve Bannon said last week that ICE will “surround the polls” during the midterm elections.¹

Meanwhile, Trump and Mike Johnson launched an all-out push to gut voting rights and pass the SAVE Act this week!

The SAVE Act would require government-issued photo ID to vote in federal elections and proof of citizenship in order to register to vote.² Congress has a duty to reject the worst voter suppression bill in modern history.

Trump championed the SAVE Act on Truth Social with his patented election propaganda: “America’s Elections are Rigged, Stolen, and a Laughingstock all over the World. We are either going to fix them, or we won’t have a Country any longer.”³

Republicans are using anti-immigrant conspiracy theories and the myth of mass “noncitizen voting” to try to justify the need for voter ID at the polls and passports or birth certificates to register to vote.⁴

In reality, the SAVE Act is an attempt to disenfranchise millions of citizens who don’t have government-issued photo IDs or ready access to their passport or birth certificates. That includes millions of married women who’ve changed their last names and don’t have a passport or birth certificate with their current last name.⁵

Republicans are now trying to rush the SAVE Act through the House and Senate. Congress must take a stand for free and fair elections and reject this voter suppression bill.
