Why? Republicans are scared that restoring voting rights to Virginians who have served their debt to society could keep the GOP from winning elections.

This GOP attack on voting rights is not limited to Virginia. Republicans around the country are using every tactic possible to attack our constitutional right to vote.

Nearly 21 states – almost all of them under Republican control – have implemented laws restricting voting rights since 2010.  And research shows that these laws disproportionately affect people of color, low-income, and senior Americans.

We all know the real reason they want these laws in place: According to a former Republican member of the U.S. Senate, Republicans are pushing voting restrictions “because in the states where they do have voter-ID laws you’ve seen, actually, elections begin to change towards more conservative candidates.”

Politicians shouldn’t disenfranchise American citizens to stay in power.

Tell the GOP: Stop your attacks on voting rights. Recognize the right to vote as a core civil right for every American!
