Pass a War Powers Resolution to stand against Saudi Arabian aggression and help end the war in Yemen!

    Petition to Congress:
In the wake of Saudi Arabia’s OPEC decision to side with Russia and slash oil production, we demand that Congress pass a War Powers Resolution to end US support for the Saudi-led coalition’s war and blockade in Yemen.

President Biden announced an end to US support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen over a year and a half ago. “We’re ending all American support for offensive operations in the war in Yemen, including relevant arm sales,” Biden said in February 2021.1

So, why is the administration still cutting $5 billion arms deals and funneling US weapons, money, and intel to the Saudi-led coalition?

Maybe it has something to do with the $25 million Saudi Arabia spent on lobbying targeting the United States in the first year of the Biden administration.2 Or, the fact that 15 retired US generals have worked as paid consultants for the Saudi military since 2016.3 We need our public servants to cut their lucrative ties with the Saudi regime, which continues to perpetrate human rights abuses, and finally end support for the war in Yemen!

Sign the petition: We demand Congress take a stand against the war by passing the Yemen War Powers Resolution ending US military aid immediately!

Saudi Arabia made plain it is not our ally with its recent announcement that it’s collaborating with Russia to slash oil production. In addition to harming US families, this is an act of solidarity with Russia — another regime actively perpetrating human rights abuses.

President Biden has promised consequences for the Saudis’ collaboration with Russia.4 The best way for the United States to stand up to the Saudis is to end US support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen, one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.3

President Biden will begin working with Congress to reevaluate the United States’ relationship with Saudi Arabia “right away,” according to the president’s spokesperson.2 Ending US support for the war in Yemen must be part of any serious reevaluation.

Representatives Pramila Jayapal and Peter DeFazio introduced the Yemen War Powers Resolution to end unauthorized US support for the war.5 Now, in light of the Saudis’ aggressions, pressure is mounting and we need all members of Congress to support the resolution: Congress must act now to end US support for these atrocities!
