Outgoing “sheriff of Wall Street” Ben Lawsky has cracked down on law-breaking on Wall Street, to the tune of $6 billion in penalties.

But Gov. Andrew Cuomo is reportedly considering taking a step back with a pro-industry replacement for Lawsky who would be soft on Wall Street.

Luckily there’s also a good option with a record of standing up to big banks and financial institutions to deliver for consumers: Rohit Chopra. Chopra has stood up to deceptive student lenders and helped secure lower interest rates for borrowers. Elizabeth Warren has called him “smart as a whip, independent, hard-working, and loaded with integrity.”

We need to make it clear to Gov. Cuomo that people want a champion for everyday people, like Rohit Chopra.

Sign the petition to send a letter to Gov. Cuomo asking him to pick a new “sheriff of Wall Street” who won’t be afraid to take on the big banks.
