Secret Trade Agreement Would Let Corporations Overrule Democracy -- Help Expose It.

Help us expose the Obama administration's big secret.  They're negotiating a clandestine trade deal that sells out American democracy for the benefit of multinational corporations.  And it gives insane powers to copyright and patent holders to do things like prevent access to critical medicine.

Here's what Demand Progress's David Segal told the Huffington Post about the Trans-Pacific Partnership:

"The Trans-Pacific deal would create harsh new global norms for intellectual property infringement -- in some respects above and beyond the already over-the-top regulations in the United States -- stifling innovation across the globe and denying countless global citizens access to affordable medicine. It's yet another pathetic reminder that our leaders, at home and across the globe, govern in the interests of capital and against those of ordinary people."

This is a disgusting overreach of corporate power -- faciliated by our elected leaders.   Add your name at right to tell Obama and Congress that enough is enough.

The only reason we know any details of TPP is because of a series of leaks by people and organizations who are furious about the deal's content and the secrecy surrounding it.  New details were leaked and posted by Public Citizen yesterday.  According to the Huffington Post, 

Foreign corporations operating within the U.S. would be permitted to appeal key American legal or regulatory rulings to an international tribunal. That international tribunal would be granted the power to overrule American law and impose trade sanctions on the United States for failing to abide by its rulings.
