Six months ago we found out that the NSA is watching all of us. But unbelievably, since then, it’s only gotten worse – that on top of watching us they’ve spied on world leaders and undermined the very encryption standards used to keep our data secure.
Now, we have a real chance to rein in those programs. Last month, Senator Leahy introduced a bill that would end bulk collection called the USA FREEDOM Act. But it’s not going to go anywhere unless we make sure our senators know we care.
That’s why we’re organizing in district meetings with Senators across the country to make sure they know they need to support Senator Leahy’s USA FREEDOM Act so that we get real reform and an end to bulk surveillance.
We’re meeting with Senator Amy Klobuchar's office – but we need you to attend to make it meaningful. Sign to the right to join us on Wednesday, December 18 to talk to Senator Klobuchar.
These meetings are critical because while Senator Leahy introduced the USA FREEDOM ACT to enact real reform, Senator Feinstein introduced a bill that would codify and legitimize everything the NSA is doing – a bill we can’t let pass if we ever want to see an end to mass, suspicionless surveillance.
You don’t need to be a policy expert to attend one of these meetings. Senators aren’t experts in every issue, but they do care about what their constituents think. Plus, we’ll walk you through each step to make sure you feel confident talking about the NSA revelations and the bills currently in Congress.
