We can put a stop to domestic surveillance by getting rid of the Patriot Act -- and now there's a bill that would do it.

As the past month's NSA spying revelations continue to unfold, we increasingly find ourselves facing the reality that -- at any moment -- the federal government could be listening to our phone calls, watching our emailtraffic, keeping tabs on our internet activity, or worse.

At the same time, the movement against these despicable violations of our privacy rights and liberties grows every day. And thanks to a bill drafted by Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ), we now have another strategy for putting a stop to the US surveillance behemoth: repealing the legislation that made it possible.

Please sign to the right to urge your lawmakers to cosponsor Rep. Holt's bill to repeal the Patriot Act and 2008 Fisa Amendments Act.

Already, tens of thousands of Demand Progress members have emailed their representatives calling for a congressional investigation into the NSA's domestic spying programs.

And while the Justice Department throws its weight trying to lock up Edward Snowden -- without whom we wouldn't even know this was happening -- Americans are increasingly expressing dissatisfaction with what Obama has called these "modest encroachments" on our civil liberties.

Now is the time to strike at the root of the problem. Add your name to the right to tell Congress to repeal the Patriot Act and 2008 FISA Amendments Act now.

    Thank you,

    Demand Progress Team
