Tell Congress: Make Amazon and other big companies pay their fair share!
Petition to Congress:
Thanks to both the Trump tax cuts and corporate-friendly provisions in the tax code, Amazon will pay $0 in corporate income tax this year, despite reporting $11 billion in earnings. It is outrageous that the wealthiest corporations are paying nothing while millions of working and middle class Americans are paying their fair share, with many also struggling to pay for healthcare, housing, and education. Fix the tax code so that corporations like Amazon pay their fair share like the rest of us.
You probably have more money in your wallet right now than Amazon will pay in corporate income taxes this year. That’s because it is paying $0, despite reporting earnings of $11 billion last year.1
What’s worse, all of this is perfectly legal. Our tax code is just so damn friendly to big corporations. Between the Trump tax cuts and ill-conceived tax write-offs from the Clinton years, Amazon legitimately owes $0 in corporate income taxes.
It’s time for that to change. Tell Congress: Amazon must pay its fair share of taxes.
I don’t have a problem paying taxes. I am more than happy to pay my fair share for the things we all need, like infrastructure, education, and healthcare. And I’ve seen hard times. So I am also willing to give a little extra help to people who need it. We’re all in this together.
But it makes me really angry that, like most of you, I am paying more income taxes this year than Amazon, one of the most highly-valued companies in the world.
It’s just not right that Amazon pays less than truckers, teachers, nurses, and firefighters. It’s time for Congress to fix these huge gaping holes in our tax code and make corporations like Amazon pay their fair share.
Tell Congress: Amazon shouldn’t be paying fewer taxes than millions of middle class Americans. Fix the tax code!
