Tell JetBlue: Stop their invasive, privacy-violating biometric passenger scanning!
Petition to JetBlue:
We demand you cancel this invasive, violating biometric scanning of passengers and support the privacy rights of your passengers.
Flying can already be stressful. But now JetBlue is pouring on the pressure by forcing their customers to undergo intrusive biometric scanning to just board their planes.1
Even the TSA doesn’t require this. But now JetBlue does.
Tell JetBlue: Drop the intrusive biometric scanning of your own customers!
JetBlue makes you stand in front of a camera and takes your photo -- and that photo then gets sent directly to Customs and Border Patrol. Fliers are calling it unsettling and disturbing.
JetBlue’s new facial biometric scanners won’t actually increase safety at airports. Instead, the airline is jumping on the disturbing new trend of pairing customers’ unique physical characteristics with customer data like name, address, and purchasing habits.
And it gets even worse: this facial scanning technology is rife with racial and gender inaccuracies2, and will not just reinforce gender and racial biases, but actually encode them into algorithms and new advanced technologies.
JetBlue prides themselves on their customer service, which means your voice matters the most here. They might want to ignore privacy advocates and academics, but they can’t afford to ignore their own customers.
Tell JetBlue: Drop the intrusive biometric scanning of your own customers!
