Can you tell your Senator and Representative to co-sponsor the Yemen War Powers Resolution?
On the campaign trail, President Biden pledged to end US involvement in the Saudi-UAE-led coalition's war in Yemen. Two years later, the US has approved billions of dollars in weaponry and military contracts to Saudi Arabia and the UAE and continues to provide logistical support, maintenance, and spare parts to the Royal Saudi Airforce, the backbone of the coalition's offensive military campaign.
After 7 years of war hundreds of thousands of Yemeni civilians have died, 2 million children are suffering from acute malnutrition, a blockade is preventing food, fuel, aid and medical supplies from reaching the Yemeni people, and more airstrikes bombard civilian infrastructure. Despite Biden’s recent meeting with Saudi Arabia, the Saudis failed to provide a concrete roadmap to ending the war, and could resume their bombing campaign after the current ceasefire expires Aug 2.
Now it's time for Congress to act. Congress must pass the War Powers Resolution (H.J.Res.87, S.J.Res.56) to unilaterally end US involvement in the war in Yemen. Democrats in the House and Senate must stand together and pass a War Powers Resolution to end US involvement in the war in Yemen!
