Abolish the filibuster, protect voting rights!
Petition to the U.S. Senate: It’s time to bypass the filibuster and pass sweeping pro-democracy voting rights legislation that protects voting by mail, makes Election Day a federal holiday, weakens restrictive state-level voter ID laws, enacts mechanisms to stop racist voter suppression, and a slew of other voting rights protections.
Each time voting rights have come before the Democratic Senate during Joe Biden’s presidency, the GOP blocked voting rights and Democrats failed to undo the filibuster. But with Republicans gaining control in Congress, this could be our LAST chance for critical voting rights legislation.
Democrats must get rid of the filibuster and pass landmark legislation to protect voting rights, our elections, and our democracy.
Add your name: urge the Senate to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act before the end of the year!
According to the American Civil Liberties Union, the GOP has introduced more than 400 voter suppression bills across the country in recent years. That’s a massive effort to stop Americans from voting.
Extreme Republicans, like former President Trump, Josh Hawley, and Ted Cruz, have made dangerous claims about the 2020 election results. They are a continued threat to our free and fair elections. The filibuster has stopped sensible policies to protect our elections and democracy from becoming law.
If the Senate does not act now, we will lose the chance to protect voting by mail, make Election Day a federal holiday, weaken restrictive state-level voter ID laws, enact mechanisms to stop racist voter suppression, and a slew of other voting rights protections.2
We must pass voting rights legislation and protect the fundamental core of our democracy before the GOP regains control in Congress. That means Senate Democrats must bypass the filibuster and take action now.
Sign on now and tell your Senators to get rid of the filibuster and pass voting rights legislation right away.
