The extreme right-wing Supreme Court that overturned Roe v. Wade just upheld Idaho’s extreme abortion ban. Then, SCOTUS decided to take on a case that could decide the legality of abortion medication.¹

In response, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Tammy Baldwin have introduced a resolution in Congress to defend access to the abortion medication mifepristone.² A right-wing ruling to limit access to abortion medication, or outright ban it, would be a disaster for abortion rights, as conservative, Trump-appointed judges have already severely limited women’s reproductive choices across the country.

After the Supreme Court upheld Idaho’s extreme abortion ban, Senator Warren wrote, “Now, doctors in the state cannot perform abortions even in medical emergencies. Yet again, women’s lives are at the mercy of this extreme Court stacked by Donald Trump.”³

The resolution defending abortion medication would protect the method that accounts for more than half of all abortions in the United States.⁴

This is a critical juncture in the fight for abortion rights, and we need as much of Congress as possible showing support for the safe, fair, equitable access to abortion medication for all.
