Tax the rich & raise the wage — pass the American Stability Act!
Petition to Congress:
We urge you to pass the American Stability Act to tax the rich and ensure workers make a living wage.
Since the mid-1970’s, the benefits of the economy have flowed to the top 1% (and even more to the top .01%) while wages for workers have stagnated. Corporate greed has inflated executive compensation and pushed wages down. The 2017 Trump tax cuts have helped the ultra-rich benefit from giant tax breaks and loopholes, while workers struggle to get by.
The American Stability Act would address the dual problems of the runaway wealth of the top 1% and stagnant wages. Upon introducing the legislation. Rep. Summer Lee said, “For far too long, working-class families have been left behind by a rigged system that rewards the ultra-wealthy and leaves the rest of us struggling to make ends meet.”1

Rep. Lee’s legislation would raise taxes on people making more than $1 million per year while adding protections into the tax code for working class Americans. It would also raise the minimum wage to a living wage ($20 per hour) and raise that wage annually based on inflation and other factors. These laws would protect a wide array of workers — including disabled and tipped workers.2
American policy for decades has tilted power, tax breaks, and every advantage there is to the ultra-wealthy. The American Stability Act can tilt policy back towards workers.
