Ban autonomous AI weapons!
Petition to President Biden:
We urge you to support a global ban on autonomous weapons systems immediately.
Behind closed doors, weapons contractors and AI companies are working together to build fully autonomous weapons that can select and engage targets without any human control.
Examples include attack missiles, rockets or aircraft that engage targets based on preprogrammed criteria.1 That means weapons making “decisions” to launch strikes based on an AI algorithm. It’s almost unthinkable, yet these kinds of AI weapons are in development now.
While America’s largest weapons contractors, like Lockheed Martin and Boeing, build AI weapons systems, we need the U.S. government to step in and stop this extremely dangerous potential future of warfare.
Sign the petition: Urge President Biden to support a ban on all AI weapons!
This dangerous development in weapons technology calls for a clear, unequivocal prohibition on autonomous weapons, backed by strict regulations and hefty penalties — and the U.S. government should lead a global charge.
We don’t need the same technologies behind broken chatbots and ChatGPT to make decisions on where to drop bombs, and who lives and dies. This has to be stopped.
