Block Trump’s AI-powered warrantless surveillance of Americans!
Petition to Congress:
We must not let Donald Trump, Kash Patel and Stephen Miller use AI to spy on us and violate our civil liberties. We urge you to oppose any bill to reauthorize FISA surveillance unless it closes the data broker and backdoor search loopholes.
Trump, Pete Hegseth, and Stephen Miller have launched a coordinated plan to extend and expand warrantless government mass surveillance of Americans.
Hegseth is demanding that AI companies give the Trump administration unrestricted use of their powerful technology for domestic spying. The White House wants to use AI to collect and analyze “commercial bulk data on Americans, such as geolocation and web browsing data.”1 It would be an uncontrollable, dangerous expansion of government surveillance.
Stephen Miller is pressuring Congress to quietly extend Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which federal law enforcement routinely abuses to search through the electronic communications of Americans without a warrant.2 Making matters even worse, government agencies are circumventing the Fourth Amendment entirely by buying sensitive information from data brokers. These abuses would be supercharged with the help of AI. Congress must say NO!

Trump’s federal agencies, like the FBI and NSA, abuse Section 702 to search through private emails and texts swept up in mass data collections under Section 702.3 We can’t let Trump and Kash Patel’s FBI use AI to spy on us and violate our civil liberties.
Law enforcement and intelligence agencies also spy on Americans by abusing the data broker loophole to bypass privacy rights by purchasing our sensitive information from data brokers.
If government agencies are allowed to use the data broker loophole to supercharge AI-powered surveillance of Americans, this already-serious issue could prove catastrophic to the right to privacy and other constitutionally protected liberties.
Demand Progress joined dozens of organizations and advocates to urge Congress to pass bipartisan fixes to this core mechanism of the mass surveillance state, including closing giant privacy loopholes that leave dangerous powers in the hands of the Trump regime.
Sign the petition: No warrantless AI surveillance in America! Block reauthorization of FISA unless it includes protections for our privacy.
