    Block the Trump-backed Paramount media takeover!

    Petition to Congress:
    We urge you to block Paramount's deal to buy Warner Brothers. The merger violates antitrust laws, would hurt consumers and artists, and pose serious ethical concerns.

    Paramount CEO (and major Trump ally) David Ellison made a $111 billion offer to take over Warner Brothers with funding support from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.1,2

    Trumpworld helped scuttle a Netflix deal with Warner Brothers and put its backing behind Paramount’s bid.3 Trump’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chair Brendan Carr said this industry-defining mega-merger would need no more than “minimal” FCC attention and should get approved “pretty quickly.”4 Carr is abdicating his responsibility to scrutinize the deal, which violates antitrust laws and poses serious risks to our democracy.

    Ellison, who already controls CBS, told Trump that he’d bring sweeping, pro-Trump changes to CNN, a Warner Brothers asset.5 Congress must stop this dangerous, Trump-serving mega-merger!

    Senator Elizabeth Warren raised the alarm when news broke of the Paramount deal. “A Paramount Skydance-Warner Bros. merger is an antitrust disaster,” she said. “A handful of Trump-aligned billionaires are trying to seize control of what you watch and charge you whatever price they want.”6

    Paramount’s CBS has already installed unqualified right-wing figures at the top of its news properties. Now, the same thing could happen at CNN.

    Pro-Trump allies are mounting a media takeover to grab even more power for the administration’s far-right propaganda machine. Congress must step in as the Trump admin tries to push this deal through.
