Break Up Amazon. Big Tech shouldn’t have our private medical information.

    Petition to Congress:
Amazon’s acquisition of One Medical, and various other inroads into health care, is the mega-corporation’s attempt to consolidate its monopoly power. The tech giant has demonstrated over and over again that it can’t be trusted — Amazon abuses its market power to prey on small businesses and consumers! It can’t be trusted with our private medical information. It’s time for Congress to break up Amazon.

Amazon is getting its hands on private health care data.

Signing up for Amazon’s new, low-cost virtual health clinic comes with a consent form that isn’t like any normal doctor’s office form. The Amazon form asks the user to disclose their “complete patient file” to Amazon and notes that the information may no longer be protected by HIPAA.1

This is how Big Tech takes control of our lives. Next thing we know, we’ll be getting targeted ads based on our very specific medical history. Amazon wants to get even more involved in our medical care — the mega-corporation wants to build a health care monopoly, but it must be stopped.

Sign the petition to Congress: It’s time to act — Break Up Amazon before it takes over health care and our private medical information.

Amazon is not leaving any doubt about their attempts to dominate our health care. The mega-corporation is very close to officially acquiring health care giant One Medical for $3.9 billion.2

Only a few years ago, Amazon acquired an online pharmacy for nearly $1 billion — which it turned into Amazon Pharmacy.3 And Amazon also struck a deal with Blue Cross-Blue Shield for Amazon Pharmacy to be the exclusive prescription delivery service to the insurance plan’s two million members in Florida.4 Amazon wants to build a health care monopoly.

Not only would Amazon have too much market power with One Medical under its belt, it also would have a frightening degree of additional informational power. Should we trust Amazon with our private health data which could easily be abused to discriminate against consumers on the basis of health conditions and serve us relentless ads based on our medical history? Absolutely not.

There’s a hidden cost to Amazon’s new, low-cost health clinic: our privacy. And this is going to get even worse if we don’t break up Amazon.

Sign the petition: We must stop Amazon from becoming a health care monopoly. Break up Amazon NOW.
