Tell Governor Newsom to reject Trump's scheme to end net neutrality!
Petition to Governor Gavin Newsom:
We urge you to either sue the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to invalidate Condition 50 before accepting $1.42 billion in broadband funding from NTIA, or to reject the funding package. As it stands this funding would end net neutrality in California for 14 years, a giveaway to big telecommunications companies and a big loss to consumers, affordability, and public safety.
The Trump administration sent California $1.42 billion to expand broadband internet. But Trump hid a provision in the funding package that would end net neutrality in the state for 14 years.
Ending net neutrality, which guarantees free and open internet access for all, would be a big win for Comcast, AT&T, Verizon/Frontier, SpaceX, and Amazon, and a big loss for the people. A free and open internet protects consumers from jacked up internet rates. It guards against Big Telecom threats to public safety, like internet providers throttling internet access during emergencies or natural disasters.
Governor Newsom must reject this poison pill provision in Trump's funding package.
Sign the petition: Tell Gov. Newsom to protect internet freedom and block Trump's giveaway to Big Telecom!
The people of California, and all across America, want an open and free internet, while Big Telecom and the Trump administration want to gate off the web for the highest bidder.
Governor Newsom must reject Trump's gambit and protect California.
