Block Trump’s AI safety ban — choose child safety over Big Tech billionaires!

    Petition to Congress:
We urge you to oppose legislation that includes federal preemption of state AI laws. This measure weakens critical safeguards on AI technology at a time when we need more regulations to protect the public from the dangers of artificial intelligence.

Trump signed an executive order to punish states that enforce AI safety regulations. But Trump needs Congress to make his policy legally binding.1

Ted Cruz and the GOP continue to push legislation to override state-level AI safeguards — the safeguards that some states have implemented to protect kids, consumers, public health, the financial system, and so much more from the dangers of AI.2

Trump and Cruz are trying to give billionaire CEOs free rein to profit from dangerous AI technology without any guardrails. Democrats—especially the members of the House Democratic Commission on AI—must reject this sweetheart deal for AI corporations.3

Popular opposition to AI and its data centers has erupted across the country. It doesn’t take long to see why: data centers harm the environment and raise utility costs while AI discriminates, causes mental health break downs, and preys on children. In the shocking recent case of Elon Musk and xAI’s Grok, the chatbot flooded X with millions of sexualized images of women and children.4

It’s no surprise that recent polling shows that a large majority of voters (81%) believe that Big Tech companies have too much control over AI policy.5

AI is too dangerous to leave safety in the hands of profiteering CEOs. Our lawmakers must stand with the people and stop legislation that gives AI companies even more power.
