Stop DeJoy from destroying the USPS.
Petition to the USPS Board of Governors:
The postal service has been a lifeline to so many Americans who rely on the service for medication, voter registration and vote-by-mail, and other packages. You cannot slash letter carrier hours and pay, especially in rural areas where people most reliant on the USPS live.
Louis DeJoy’s postal service has a plan to slash letter carrier pay.1 It’s unacceptable, but not a surprise — DeJoy is the Trump-appointed Postmaster General still in charge of the U.S. Postal Service.
DeJoy’s dangerous 10-year privatization plan for the United States Postal Service remains a real threat to workers, consumers, and our entire postal system. Mail prices have gone up under DeJoy, and the mail has slowed down.2 Now, some letter carriers might see their livelihoods taken away.
Sign the petition: Urge the USPS Board of Governors to reverse the decision to slash letter carrier pay! We need a functioning postal service and workers are critical to a strong USPS.
The USPS is deciding to slash letter carrier hours and pay, mostly in rural areas, because of an algorithm.3 We can’t let the USPS continue to get worse at the hands of an algorithm and a Trump-appointee.
DeJoy’s broader USPS privatization plan will inevitably raise prices even more, crushing consumers who rely on the mail to send packages to loved ones and small businesses who rely on the USPS for the core of their operations.4 It will also adversely impact rural and indigenous communities the most5 — the USPS is a lifeline for so many communities.
This impending reduction in rural letter carrier hours will particularly hurt people living in remote areas, rural communities, and Indigenous communities who rely on the postal service to receive medications and to vote-by-mail, because their towns are too small for polling places.
Private companies won’t build offices in rural and remote areas because it’s not profitable. That’s corporate greed, and that’s why the USPS is so important. We must stop DeJoy.
Add your name urging the USPS Board of Governors to stop DeJoy’s privatization plan and reverse its decision to slash rural letter carrier capacity.
