Investigate and shut down abusive ICE prisons!

    Petition to Congress:
We urge you to investigate and shut down vile, inhumane immigrant detention centers and stop DHS from building more prisons. We urge you specifically to shut down Camp East Montana and Alligator Alcatraz immediately.

Abuse. Neglect. Suffering. Murder. This is what’s happening in Trump’s horrific ICE prisons.

There have already been 14 deaths in ICE custody this year, setting an even faster pace than last year when 33 people died (the most in over two decades).1,2 A medical examiner ruled one of these deaths a homicide, with a witness reporting guards strangling a man at the Camp East Montana prison in early January.3,4

Lawmakers are calling for the closure of some of the worst ICE prison camps, including Alligator Alcatraz and Camp East Montana. Congress must address the rise in deaths and widespread inhumane prison conditions NOW.

The Associated Press recently released shocking details of abuse and suffering at Camp East Montana, ICE’s largest prison: overcrowding, medical neglect, malnutrition, emotional distress, a Measles outbreak, thousands detained in tents, and 911 calls from inside the prison from pregnant women in pain, people who’ve been beaten, and detainees reporting self-harm.5

"Camp East Montana was 1,000% worse than a prison," one former detainee said.6

Reports have revealed systemic abuse at ICE detention centers from Florida to California to Pennsylvania. Lawmakers have called Alligator Alcatraz an internment camp.7

Trump’s ballooning, record high ICE prison population will only make the abusive conditions worse and lead to more deaths.

Congress must take urgent action to save the tens of thousands suffering in detention centers across the country.
