The Trump administration is attempting to grab absolute power. Trump is ignoring the Constitution, trying to end birthright citizenship, and unilaterally cutting off federal funding for healthcare, housing, education, and more. He’s giving Musk unfettered access to our country’s most important government systems.

Amid a raft of lawsuits against Trump,¹ all these cases could end up in front of the right-wing, corrupt Supreme Court. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have flouted ethics laws for years, and now they could help hand absolute power to Trump.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced articles of impeachment against Thomas and Alito last Congress to save the Court from damning conflicts of interest and shady financial ties to conservative networks.² Congress must act now before SCOTUS makes Trump into a king.

Thomas and Alito sacrificed their independence on the Supreme Court after accepting millions in lavish gifts from corporate executives and GOP mega-donors. They’ve failed to recuse themselves from cases where they had a clear conflict of interest, including the Trump immunity case.

Upon introducing articles of impeachment against Thomas and Alito last year, AOC said, “Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito’s pattern of refusal to recuse from consequential matters before the court in which they hold widely documented financial and personal entanglements constitutes a grave threat to American rule of law, the integrity of our democracy, and one of the clearest cases for which the tool of impeachment was designed.”³

The threat to the rule of law and our democracy is even more serious with Trump in power, and Thomas and Alito ready to back him up in the nation’s highest Court.
