Impeach Brendan Carr and stop Trump’s attacks on the media!
Petition to the U.S. House:
We urge you to impeach Brendan Carr in order to protect the First Amendment and media freedom in the United States.
Trump went on a Truth Social tirade against the New York Times and Wall Street Journal over the weekend, angry over reporting on his criminal war on Iran. He even suggested that so-called "corrupt media outlets" were committing "treason" for their journalism.1
Then, his Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Brendan Carr, threatened to revoke broadcast licenses for news agencies that report on the war in a way that Trump doesn’t like.2
It’s a blatant authoritarian attack on the media and First Amendment. Congress must combat Trump’s open attempts to crush free speech by holding this administration accountable!

“This is the federal government telling news stations to provide favorable coverage of the war or their licenses will be pulled,” Senator Chris Murphy said. “We aren’t on the verge of a totalitarian takeover. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.”3
FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez said Carr has no authority whatsoever to revoke these licenses, but the threats of this lawless administration have a serious chilling effect on the media and speech in America.4
It’s clear that Carr is more concerned with loyalty to Trump than with protecting the First Amendment, media freedom, and the public interest. Carr has helped Trump target and punish CBS, NPR, PBS, ABC, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and many others who say something that goes against the White House’s far-right propaganda.
The U.S. House must hold Carr accountable for his authoritarian attacks on the free press.
