    Investigate ICE's fatal shootings and hold agents accountable

    Petition to Congress:
    We urge you to ensure there is a full, independent investigation into ICE shooting and killing Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Texas and Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Maine. We urge you to ensure ICE, DHS, and other federal officials comply with investigations into agents killing Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Hold ICE and CBP agents accountable.

    ICE agents shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston on July 7th. Days later, ICE shot and killed Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Maine.1

    DHS is trying to cover up both horrifying fatal shootings. Trump was outraged when DHS put a brief pause on ICE traffic stops, saying, "We CANNOT give up one of ICE’s most important and effective Crime Fighting tools."2

    Trump's far-right immigration agents have shot and killed at least 11 people during his second term, including Alex Pretti and Renee Good.3 Araujo's son, members of Congress, and the people are calling for accountability and a full, independent investigation into these shootings.4 Lawmakers must end ICE impunity!

    "ICE cannot investigate itself," said Rep. Sylvia Garcia, one of the U.S. Representatives in the Houston area.5 Maine Senator Angus King said, "There should be a thorough, open, unvarnished investigation…it should involve state and local officials, not just ICE, DHS, and the FBI."6

    Despite tens of billions of dollars in funding, ICE claims that no agents were wearing bodycams and no government footage is available from the incidents.7

    Houston's District Attorney said he's ready to bring charges against ICE agents if wrongdoing is found during an investigation into the killing of Araujo.8

    The disgraceful reality is that six months after ICE and CBP killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti, federal officials have continued blocking state and local investigators from fully reviewing these cases.9

    Congress must ensure that Trump’s criminal ICE is investigated and held fully accountable.
