Investigate and shut down Alligator Alcatraz NOW
Petition to Congress:
We urge you to do everything in your power to investigate and shut down vile, inhumane immigrant detention centers, including “Alligator Alcatraz.”
New reporting from the Miami Herald shows that the well-documented horrors inside Trump’s Alligator Alcatraz ICE detention camp are even worse than we thought.
ICE has disappeared over 1,000 people taken into custody at Alligator Alcatraz. Families and lawyers don’t know where they are. For many of them, there are no publicly available ICE records of their imprisonment.1 Advocates are now calling Alligator Alcatraz an “extrajudicial blacksite” because of these terrifying disappearances.2 “This is like psychological torture,” said one mother trying to figure out where ICE had taken her son.3
Violent ICE raids, vicious abductions, and the wholesale disappearing of people are now hallmarks of Trump’s mass deportation regime. These are the policies of an authoritarian who gleefully tramples on civil rights and the rule of law. Alligator Alcatraz is a center of ICE’s worst abuses and must be shut down!
Sign the petition: Tell Congress to shut down Alligator Alcatraz immediately! Fully investigate ICE’s abuses and mass disappearances.
One advocate called Aligator Alcatraz a “depraved torture camp.”4 Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz called it an “internment camp” after visiting the facility.5
Instead of addressing ICE disappearing people from their families or the horrid conditions in ICE prisons — like tens of people sharing the same toilet, and drinking from water spigots attached to toilets6 — Trump officials are celebrating the horror of mass deportations.
Congress must act now and use every power available to stop ICE’s disappearances and shut down Alligator Alcatraz.
Sign the petition: Shut down Trump’s vile immigrant prison in Florida and investigate all ICE prisons for widespread abuse.
