Tell President Biden: No LNG!
We demand that President Biden end subsidies for fossil fuels--no liquefied natural gas subsidies!
Six billion dollars. That’s how much money will be handed over to Big Oil companies if we don’t take action now.
Currently, the federal government is poised to give $6 billion to fossil fuel companies to build new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export hubs. If they move forward with the plan, it would triple the number of LNG export facilities in the country.1
The Biden administration is giving the green light due to these projects’ use of controversial carbon-capture technology--despite opposition from climate advocates and local communities. Not only this, but if these fossil fuel projects are completed, the US will not meet the goals of the Paris climate agreement.2

“It’s still going to release toxic emissions into our communities. It’s still going to damage ecosystems, threatening our way of life and public safety.” That’s what Bekah Hinojosa, a local climate activist, said regarding the plan to add carbon capture to a LNG plant near her home in Brownsville, Texas.
Part of the problem is that the Trump administration relaxed regulations around natural gas flaring--the practice of allowing natural gas from oil wells to be burned at the point of extraction, releasing planet-warming methane gas into the atmosphere. The Biden administration has yet to crack down on flaring, and we need to send a clear message: no new fossil fuel infrastructure.
