Tell Congress: Vote NO on NAFTA 2.0

    Petition to Congress:

We urge you to vote NO on the USMCA, which is the new version of NAFTA that includes huge loopholes for corporate polluters, doesn't include key environmental provisions, and will undermine the work to address the climate crisis.

The Sierra Club and other leaders on climate and the environment are mobilizing right now to fight the new NAFTA and they've asked for our help mobilizing people ahead of this critical vote.

The last time a NAFTA deal was approved, it devastated jobs and communities across North America. It also led to epic environmental damage and carbon emissions. Environmental leaders are now opposing the new version of NAFTA -- and time is running out to stop this bad deal.

The new version of NAFTA, which Trump calls the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), is a key opportunity to tackle the climate crisis. NAFTA is notorious for weakening environmental standards and destroying jobs in order to enable corporate profit. Leading climate and environmental organizations came together to demand changes to NAFTA to stop the damage.

But Trump's deal makes matters worse for the climate. It enables more pollution dumping, provides more fossil fuel handouts, and doesn't improve enforcement of environmental regulations. NAFTA 2.0 even creates a new loophole for corporate polluters in the investor-state dispute settlement process.

Congress is going to sneak this vote through while everyone's attention is on impeachment. We need to speak up NOW.

Trade agreements like these supersede U.S. laws, and remain in place for decades. This is a crucial opportunity to get it right, especially as we face the climate crisis. Congress is about to let Trump get it very wrong. Will you take a stand for climate and the environment right now?
