Protect the judicial checks on Trump's power!
Petition to the U.S. Senate:
We urge you to OPPOSE the No Rogue Rulings Act. Our democracy depends on checks and balances and the independence of the courts. Please oppose all efforts to undermine judicial oversight.
Last week, Speaker Mike Johnson and the House GOP voted to restrict the power of federal district judges.1 Republicans are doing everything they can to remove the checks and balances in the federal system so Trump can grab power and do whatever he wants.
This legislation, the “No Rogue Rulings Act,” is an extreme right-wing reaction to federal judges placing injunctions on Trump’s policies — from unconstitutional immigration orders, the attempted nationwide federal funding freeze, gutting of government agencies, and much more.
“If you don’t like the injunctions, don’t do illegal, unconstitutional stuff,” said Rep. Pramila Jayapal in reaction to Trump’s policies and the passage of this dangerous bill.2 The Act has now passed the House, so if the Senate doesn’t preserve the power of the judiciary by rejecting this legislation, Trump will expand his unchecked powers and execute more of his horrifying agenda.

Republicans have been spouting absurd propaganda while trying to build a case for this unprecedented legislation. Rep. Darrell Issa pushed the bill, making the false, nonsensical claim that, “Left-leaning activists have cooperated with ideological judges who they have sought out to take their cases and weaponize nationwide injunctions to stall dozens of lawful executive actions and initiatives.”3 These statements are both ridiculous and dangerous.
We can’t let Congress take judicial powers from judges who are holding the Trump administration accountable. We need our Senators to protect the rule of law and stop the No Rogue Rulings Act.
