Stop Trump and Stephen Miller's NSPM-7 attacks on free speech and protest!

    Petition to Congress:
We urge you to stop the federal government's targeted persecution of people and organizations exercising their First Amendment rights to protest. We urge you to oppose the persecution called for under NSPM-7, reject increased funding for counterterrorism initiatives to carry out NSPM-7, and loudly denounce the prison sentences for protesters in Prairieland and charges against Minneapolis area activists.

Trump recently threatened a Democratic-aligned organization with a spurious $5 billion lawsuit. He demanded that the group rescind a report on his reckless National Guard deployments AND apologize to Trump.1 It's clear retaliation for publishing the truth.

Trump is expanding his authoritarian, government-wide attack on activists. In the wake of ICE's siege on Minneapolis, the Trump administration labeled ICE protesters as “violent opportunists and agitators."2 Stephen Miller characterized political opponents as "enemies of civilization."3

Reps. Jim McGovern and Delia Ramirez are leading an inquiry into Trump's NSPM-7, an overly broad national security memo designed to define political dissent against Trump as "terrorism."4,5 This is just the first step — Congress must outright end NSPM-7 now.

Reps. McGovern, Ramirez, and other congressional Democrats wrote that Trump's actions "dramatically escalate the administration's deliberate and targeted attempts to silence any person, organization, or institution critical of its policies and abuses of power on a global scale."6

After ICE's invasion in Minnesota, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) investigated a major climate organization, two of America's most prominent labor unions, and a socialist group for supposed "domestic terror financing." As a result of that sprawling investigation, a Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney indicted 15 protest organizers.7

The Department of Justice weaponized NSPM-7 to prosecute protesters in Texas on trumped up, outlandish charges of "domestic terrorism” carrying 30 and 50 year prison sentences.8

Trump is trampling on the First Amendment and getting away with it. NSPM-7 is empowering him and his loyalists to continue persecuting and prosecuting activists.

Sign the petition: Congress must undo NSPM-7, end the shocking investigations, and overturn authoritarian prison sentences.
