SCOTUS is attacking unions - we need to protect workers’ rights!

    Petition:

SCOTUS will likely attack workers’ right to strike in the upcoming decision in the 'Glacier Northwest v. Teamsters' case. We need to protect our labor laws and our right to organize.

We’ve seen just how far the Trump appointee-dominated Supreme Court is willing to go to push its right wing agenda. Now SCOTUS is considering the destruction of our fundamental labor rights.1

Organized labor has long been the core means for working people to improve job conditions. Fair wages, healthcare, overtime, weekends, and more have all been won because of working people organizing together as unions. That’s exactly why Republicans and corporate special interests do everything they can to make it harder for workers to organize.

Right now, Republicans are excited that a case in front of the Supreme Court called Glacier Northwest v. Teamsters could result in a major blow for workers. In short, SCOTUS will likely use the case to make it far more difficult for unions to go on strike. That means unions would have much less power at the bargaining table, and big corporations would have even more license to exploit workers.2

In the Glacier Northwest case, the company is alleging that striking workers should be responsible for money the company loses during a strike. The entire point of a strike is to create economic pressure, so if SCOTUS finds with the company in this case, it could fundamentally undermine workers’ ability to strike.3

We can’t let the right wing Supreme Court get away with this attack on unions. We must protect labor laws and the right to organize.
