Tell your Senators to vote YES and hold Trump accountable!
Petition to the U.S. Senate:
We urge you to vote 'Yes' on S.Res.195, a privileged resolution that would require the administration to report on human rights abuses by the Salvadoran government, assess whether U.S. security assistance is contributing to those abuses, and explain what the U.S. is doing to protect due process, defend the rights of U.S. citizens and residents, and ensure compliance with U.S. court orders.
When the Trump administration ignored the courts to send 300 people to El Salvador’s brutal CECOT mega-prison, Trump violated the law.
That’s why Senate Democrats are holding a vote THIS WEEK to hold Trump accountable. If the vote succeeds, Trump will be forced to answer for his failure to comply with court orders and his collusion with El Salvador to violate human rights. If Trump doesn’t produce answers, all security assistance to Trump’s ally and collaborator, El Salvador’s President Bukele, will be cut off.1
This is a rare opportunity for Congress to force Trump’s hand and condemn his cruel policies.
Sign the petition: Urge your Senators to vote YES on holding Trump accountable for illegally sending people to an El Salvador prison. The vote will happen this week, so take action now.
Trump’s deportations to the Bukele regime are both a constitutional crisis and a human rights disaster. El Salvador’s own justice minister says the only way out of CECOT is “in a coffin.”2
Senator Chris Van Hollen spoke on Trump’s travesty of justice after returning from seeing Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador, the man the Trump administration admits to sending to CECOT by mistake. “The American people deserve answers on this clear defiance of our nation’s constitutional rights and the extent of El Salvador’s complicity in this scheme, as well its human rights abuses.”3
Our Senators must vote Yes for this resolution, human rights, and the rule of law.
Sign the petition: Hold Trump accountable for his illegal, unconstitutional actions — a vote in the Senate is imminent!
