Trump has nominated acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf to take on the role full-time.

Wolf is exactly what you would expect from a Trump crony. As acting Secretary, Wolf has enforced racist and inhumane family separations, directly ignored the Supreme Court ruling to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, and ordered federal law enforcement to target peaceful protesters in Portland. Wolf has even lied under oath.

During a hearing this past June, Wolf stated under oath that he had no part in developing and enacting the separation of families and the caging of children. However, in his capacity as Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen’s chief of staff, Wolf sent an email to Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ counsel that outlined options for curbing undocumented immigration, which included ‘separate family units,’ as well as expediting the deportation of children.

More recently, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) finally issued official guidance on the DACA program under the direction of Wolf—but it’s not about fully reopening it to new applicants as ordered to do so by the Supreme Court. Instead, the guidance rejects new applicants, remaining at odds with the court's ruling.

Further, as the protests over the police murder of George Floyd spread across the nation, Chad Wolf deployed unmarked forces that snatched peaceful protestors off of the streets in multiple cities without cause, violating their constitutional rights.

Chad Wolf cannot be confirmed to a permanent position as the Homeland Security Secretary.
