We urge you to protect and fully fund Social Security.
DOGE’s work at the Social Security Administration (SSA) led to mass firings, the closing of field offices across the country, and phony fraud prevention systems.1 Every single one of these changes made it harder for seniors and people with disabilities to get their benefits checks.
The damage DOGE has done to Social Security comes as SSA struggles to keep up with a record surge of retirement claims.2 We’re hearing less about Musk and DOGE these days, but the lasting damage at the SSA could impact beneficiaries for years to come — unless Congress restores and protects one of the most important social programs in America.

In Musk and Trump’s coordinated campaign to hobble SSA and hurt the people who rely on Social Security benefits, DOGE even wrongfully removed people from Social Security.3
Congress must protect Social Security from further damage. But this is not enough. Millions have had their monthly income threatened and the program that 73 million people rely on is on shaky footing. Our elected leaders must also strengthen the program, and fund it for generations to come.
