Tell Senators: Stop Donald Trump's internet censorship plan

    Petition to U.S. Senators:
We demand you speak out against Donald Trump's proposed executive order that would allow the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission to erode key free speech protections online. This is an unacceptable attempt to censor a free and open internet. If Trump does actually issue such an order, we also insist that you take all steps to overturn it.

CNN is reporting Donald Trump has drafted an executive order that would allow Ajit Pai and the FCC, as well as Trump's handpicked majority on the FTC, to censor the internet.1 They would have the power to end free speech online.

Demand Progress is mobilizing the internet to fight back against this bonechilling proposal. We need to flood inboxes for Senators from both parties letting them know they must stand up and put a stop to this plan. We don't have a moment to lose.

Add your name: Tell Senators to speak out against and block Donald Trump's plan to revoke free speech protections online.

Donald Trump and Ajit Pai already dealt a huge blow to internet freedom when they ended net neutrality last year. This new proposal is a dramatic escalation in Trump's attack on free speech.

His executive order would allow the FCC and FTC, led by his handpicked cronies, to initiate regulatory action against companies that don't police speech online in exactly the way Trump wants.

This is an authoritarian proposal that would erode our freedoms online at precisely the moment when a free and open internet is most essential.

We have seen the unthinkable become reality numerous times in the last two years. We cannot assume this extreme proposal will just fade away. Senators need to hear from you loud and clear that this executive order is a terrible idea and they need to help put a stop to it.

Tell your Senators: Stop Donald Trump's attack on free speech and internet freedom.
