    Stop Trump from going to war with Venezuela! Back Ilhan Omar and Adam Schiff’s War Powers Resolution!

    Petition to Congress:
    We urge you to pass a War Powers Resolution to stop military hostilities with Venezuela. We urge you to use your powers to stop U.S. military aggression against Venezuela, Mexico, and other countries the White House is targeting in Latin America.

    Trump said the U.S. military struck a fourth boat coming from Venezuela as part of his campaign to “blow the cartel terrorists the hell out of the water.”1 Then, he again ratcheted up threats to engage in ground warfare in Venezuela and Mexico.2

    The UN has made very clear that Trump’s boat bombings are illegal, saying, “International law does not allow governments to simply murder alleged drug traffickers.”3 Senate Democrats have pushed a War Powers Resolution to end Trump’s lawless killings and aggression against Venezuela.

    Congress can vote to check Trump’s military powers as soon as THIS WEEK. Our lawmakers must demand an end to hostilities in the Caribbean now!

    Representative Ilhan Omar and Senators Adam Schiff and Tim Kaine have introduced a War Powers Resolution to stop Trump’s illegal airstrikes and extrajudicial killings. We must pressure Congress to uphold the law in the face of Trump’s wanton violence.

    “There was no legal justification for the Trump Administration’s military escalation in the Caribbean,” Representative Ilhan Omar said after introducing a War Powers Resolution in the House.4

    Sen. Schiff pointed out the stark reality that Trump’s extralegal boat killings are putting all Americans at risk. “Other countries now may decide to blow an American ship out of the water and claim that it was engaged in drug trafficking,” he said.5

    Trump is deploying military force wherever he wants, no matter what the law says. Congress must take action now to reassert its war powers and end Trump’s reckless military campaign against Venezuela.
