Stop Trump’s authoritarian military takeover!
Petition to Congress:
We urge you to stop the White House’s domestic military deployments and protect people across the country from a military takeover.
Trump just ordered thousands of National Guard troops into Washington, D.C. and took over control of local D.C. police. It’s an unprecedented abuse of power under the guise of Trump’s claim that he’s “cracking down on crime.”1
The White House is using D.C. as a laboratory for a military occupation of America’s cities. Trump already launched a military takeover of Los Angeles — sending the National Guard and Marines there for weeks to break up mass protests.2 Trump even said his invasion of D.C. is “going to be a model” for how his administration will use the military to occupy other cities.3
Trump is breaking the law, defying federal court orders, and challenging legal precedents on domestic policing to attempt an all-out authoritarian takeover. Our elected leaders can’t sit back and let this play out — they must take a stand NOW and stop Trump’s tyranny.

Trump is inventing his own precedents now. If the White House unilaterally decides that a city lacks order, then Trump will deploy the military against the American people.
Trump is using uglier and uglier rhetoric to defend his authoritarianism. “It’s becoming a situation of complete and total lawlessness, and we’re getting rid of the slums, too,” Trump said.4 “We want our Capital BACK,” he added on Truth Social.5
These military deployments aren’t temporary. Though Trump withdrew the majority of troops deployed to LA, 250 National Guard troops remain there under his direction.6
Trump is targeting cities to consolidate control over the country. Congress must restore its checks on Trump’s power before the military is in every city in America.
