    Petition to Congress:
    We urge you to reject all versions of the SAVE America Act, the SAVE Act, and all other voter suppression measures. These bills are a threat to our voting rights and our democracy. We also urge you to support legislative measures to block any emergency executive orders that aim to seize control of elections away from the states.

    Trump is plotting an executive order to declare a national emergency that would allow him to take sweeping control over the 2026 midterm elections.1

    Senator Alex Padilla said the "illegal, unconstitutional" order could include "banning mail-in voting, eliminating major voting registration methods, voter purges, and/or new document barriers for registering to vote and voting."2

    Trump’s MAGA loyalists are pulling out all the stops to suppress the vote: authoritarian emergency orders, devastating voter suppression bills like the SAVE Act, and Steve Bannon’s call for ICE to "surround the polls" in November.3 Trump even said he’s "entitled" to an unconstitutional third term in the White House. It’s urgent that Congress prevents Trump’s insidious election plans.

    The SAVE Act would require government-issued photo ID to vote in federal elections and proof of citizenship in order to register to vote.4

    Republicans are using anti-immigrant conspiracy theories and the myth of mass "noncitizen voting" to try to justify their voter suppression campaign.5

    Senator Padilla is organizing a joint resolution to help thwart any illegal Trump emergency order on election interference.6 Congress must act immediately.
