    Stop Trump’s war with Venezuela! Pass Rep. Ilhan Omar’s War Powers Resolution

    Petition to Congress:
    We urge you to pass a War Powers Resolution to stop military hostilities with Venezuela. We urge you to use your powers to stop U.S. military aggression against Venezuela, Mexico, and other countries the White House is targeting in Latin America.

    Trump bombed a THIRD boat coming from Venezuela that the White House claims was carrying drugs.1 Trump is blaming Venezuela’s government for sending drugs to the U.S.,2 ratcheting up military tensions with Venezuela after Trump secretly signed a directive to use military force against drug cartels in Latin America.3

    Trump even threatened ground war with Venezuela and any other country he wants to target: "When they come by land we're going to be stopping them the same way we stopped the boats,” he said.4

    “There was no legal justification for the Trump Administration’s military escalation in the Caribbean,” Representative Ilhan Omar said after introducing a War Powers Resolution in the House.5 Senator Adam Schiff followed up with a Senate version of the War Powers Resolution to stop Trump’s “lawless killings.”6 Congress must support this measure to end Trump’s illegal warmaking and reassert its powers over the White House.

    Sen. Schiff pointed out the stark reality that Trump’s extralegal boat killings are putting all Americans at risk. “Other countries now may decide to blow an American ship out of the water and claim that it was engaged in drug trafficking,” he said.7

    Legal and human rights experts are describing these strikes as clear breaches of international law, no matter what the Trump administration claims.8

    Congress must act quickly and pass a War Powers Resolution to prevent Trump from dragging us into another war.
