Stop Trump's attacks on Wikipedia and other nonprofits he wants to destroy
Petition to Congress:
We urge you to stop the Trump administration’s spurious attacks on organizations like Wikimedia and end the threats against their nonprofit status.
Trump is trying to take complete control — defying the judiciary, attacking public news outlets, and going after the nonprofit status of organizations that don’t fit his agenda.
Last week, Trump’s crusade led to the DOJ going after Wikimedia, the organization that runs Wikipedia, for “spreading propaganda” and “subverting the interests of American taxpayers,” and threatening to take away its nonprofit status.1 It’s a completely baseless, targeted attack against a source of information Trump can’t control — and he wants total control.
Our elected leaders in Congress can speak up and make clear that stripping the nonprofit status from organizations that Trump doesn’t like is completely unacceptable, illegal, and a severe departure from the principles of American democracy.

The Trump admin has also directed its attacks at scientific journals it doesn’t agree with, like the New England Journal of Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as groups aligned with Democrats, including ActBlue.2,3 The administration has taken direct aim at defunding reliable news sources like PBS and public radio. All in a quest to shut down organizations that Trump sees as enemies.
Wikipedia, and these other institutions, could be effectively shut down by the DOJ just because Trump wants them to be shut down. That’s not what happens in a democracy, but that’s what’s at stake right now.
