Block the Trump administration's warrantless spying on Americans!

    Petition to Congress:
We urge you to oppose any bill to reauthorize FISA surveillance unless it closes the data broker and backdoor search loopholes.

Trump and Stephen Miller are pushing to extend a law that the government routinely abuses to spy on Americans without a warrant, all while Pete Hegseth pressures companies to allow unrestricted use of their AI tech for domestic surveillance.1,2

Yet, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee is backing Trump's stance in favor of renewing Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) without reforms.3 Rep. Jim Himes claims that, despite overwhelming evidence, Trump hasn't abused Section 702. In reality, warrantless data searches using loopholes in the law are up 35% at the FBI.4

Voters across the political spectrum overwhelmingly support privacy reforms. Congress should listen to them instead of simply giving Donald Trump and Stephen Miller unchecked surveillance powers.

Federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies exploit the "data broker loophole" to bypass privacy rights by purchasing our sensitive private information from data collection companies. They also use the "backdoor search loophole" to circumvent court orders and search through billions of communications.

Demand Progress is leading hundreds of organizations and advocates to push for legislation that closes these surveillance loopholes — and a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers are championing these reforms. We must pressure our lawmakers now to ensure these reforms are passed before the April 20th FISA reauthorization deadline.
